There is no doubt that there are many benefits to going solar, including monetary and environmental benefits. However, it should be understood that the transition to solar energy is not a quick process. It’s not like you decide to build a solar system today and tomorrow you’ll be enjoying free electricity with your system. Once you’ve chosen to go solar, you may need to consider how many days it will take to start producing electricity. All things considered, power generation is why you should switch to solar panels. In this article will know, the time it takes to install solar panels and the variables that affect the time.
How long does it take to install solar panels?
The whole process of purchasing and installing solar panels is only a short-term process. Each stage of the entire process will have a waiting period. The ideal option for each step will vary depending on where you live, your solar installation company, the solar panels you choose, and how many other companies offer solar panels. Below are the steps to install a residential solar panel system and the time required for each process:
Assessment of Site:
When choosing a solar installation company, one of the first steps is to research and confirm your location. A solar expert from a solar installation company will visit the site and analyze the roof and its various aspects to ensure it is ready for a solar system. Professionals will make sure that your roof can support the weight and that your electrical system can handle the designed capacity. The experts will also make sure there are no obstructions to daylight (such as shadows) and confirm the estimate. From the initial call to reservation to a site visit, this process can take approximately one to seven days.
Design of Solar System
The type of solar products (panels, inverter, and batteries) and fixtures you use will affect the time it takes to install the system. If your solar panel company doesn’t have the parts in stock, they may need to be ordered, which can increase installation time. If your solar company uses parts that must be sourced from overseas, you can expect it to take several weeks for solar products to be shipped from overseas. Arista Solar has always maintained adequate stocks and has ensured that each product is ordered and imported before stocks run out. Additionally, the design of your solar panel system may require additional approval prior to installation. If the solar professionals inspecting the site need to make changes, wait for approval before proceeding with the process. Our design engineers and technical engineers work together to eliminate all of these issues during the design process, so you never have to wait for approval. This process may change if you need approval for your design and the origin of your parts, this may take 1-2 weeks.
Solar System Installation
When planning to build your own solar system, this step is literally the fastest, which surprises most people. Oftentimes, your solar company really wants to install a solar panel system in a matter of days. Installers will show up at your home complete with hardware and work. They will start with wiring and framing and end with the actual installation of the PV panels. Sometimes this can be done in a day, but if your roof is heavy or sloping, it could take a few days. It also depends on the size of the system and the layout of the roof, this step can take 1-2 days.
Net metering Connection
Now you are in the last step. The final step is to place an order with your local power company so that they can flip the switch to connect your solar system. At this point, the utility will regularly install a meter to determine how much energy you are generating. This final stage can take up to three months from application to inclusion. Arista Solar is a certified solar panel company and our net metering team is well-versed in all the processes required to install a net meter. Our team will do it as soon as possible without any problems.
In general, a solar installation can take anywhere from half a month to a few months. This may seem like a long time, but don’t let it stop you from going solar. A solar energy system can lower your electricity bill, help you become more independent, and reduce your carbon footprint.
